“The Autumn Garden”, the Lilian Hellman play in which Mamie stars as Sophie Tuckerman, will have its premiere tomorrow at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. NY1 News has had a report on the festival, including an interview with Mamie, which you can download in the video archive.
Here’s a transcript of the report: Also on hand this summer at Will-iamstown is actress Mamie Gummer who was recently seen performing opposite her mother Meryl Streep in the film “Evening.” From August 15th through the 26th she’s appearing in Lillian Hellman’s “The Autumn Garden.” The show marks Gummer’s Williamstown debut but she’s no stranger to the festival. “I grew up around here, and so I grew up coming to the theatre around here and it’s always been a dream,” says Gummer. “I remember I saw Gywneth Paltrow do “As You Like It” and just was so blown away by the whole thing and just this feeling of summer camp but also producing something extraordinary, hopefully.” For more information on the festival or the special bus trip on Saturday August 18th, you can log on to www.wtfestival.org.
