Michael Chernus, Mamie Gummer, Keira Naughton and Jeremy Shamos will star in the Primary Stages world premiere run of Brooke Berman’s “Hunting and Gathering”. Leigh Silverman directs the company’s third production of the season, which is slated to begin previews Jan. 22, 2008. Opening night is scheduled for Feb. 3, and the play will run through March 1. From the writer of Smashing comes this new play that “follows four interconnected New Yorkers through their thwarted attempts to find a place – without compromise,” as show notes reveal. “Jesse (Shamos) has his first date since his divorce, his ex-lover Ruth (Naughton) is living a fantasy, his brother Astor (Chernus) is the ‘man with the van,’ and Bess (Gummer) has a plan to come out on top.” “We are thrilled to begin the new year with the world premiere of this exciting new play by Brooke Berman that incorporates original music by some of New York’s up-and-coming rock bands,” said Primary Stages artistic director Andrew Leynse.
