As the daughter of Hollywood royalty, Mamie Gummer knows a thing or two about the inner workings of the social elite. But in her latest role, Gummer – whose mother is Meryl Streep – will draw on history to channel her inner aristocrat. As the first of several actors who will participate in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s new artist-in-residence program, Gummer will star as Lady Dunmore in “Lady Dunmore Prepares for the Ball,” which will be presented Sunday at an open-air theater on the grounds of the Governor’s Palace. Gummer portrayed Sally Smith Adams, a daughter-in-law of Revolutionary War patriot and second U.S. president John Adams and wife Abigail, in the HBO miniseries adapted from John McCullough’s bestselling biography. The series was partly filmed at Colonial Williamsburg. The complete article can be read the the Los Angeles Times.
