News courtesy Fearnet.com: ARC Entertainment in collaboration with Barry Gordon’s XLrator Media have partnered to acquire the U.S. distribution rights to John Carpenter’s The Ward. Amber Heard, Mamie Gummer, Danielle Panabaker, Lyndsy Fonseca and Jared Harris star in the acclaimed director’s psychological thriller which is set in a 1960s mental institution that becomes terrorized by malevolent unseen forces. Doug Mankoff, Andrew Spaulding and Mike Marcus of Echo Lake Entertainment along with Peter Block of A Bigger Boat produced the film. International sales were handled by Glen Basner’s FilmNation Entertainment. “We are proud to be a part of John Carpenter’s long-awaited return to the big screen,” said XLrator Media’s Barry Gordon in a statement. “John is one of the most renowned filmmakers in the world and John Carpenter’s The Ward is a great addition to an already legendary career.”
