Having worked on websites before, and knowing how time consuming it can be to research an actor's career some 30 years back, I always thought it would be nice to follow a career right from its beginning. So when I read first articles about Mamie Gummer's first appearances on the stage and, in 2007, in a first movie appearance, I felt it would be an interesting and the ultimately right project to be there right from the start. The question, however, was how to make a fansite on somebody you’ve never seen acting? Where’s the fan part? After much thought I decided to give this project a go – after all it was "just" a website, if Mamie would have decided to end her professional career right after "Evening" – or in case she would be just plain bad – this website would have closed its doors as fast as it was opened. The site itself was done pretty fast – the positive aspect of researching a person with virtually no career – so on June 20, 2007, Mamie Gummer Online was launched.

Looking back after almost five years, I couldn’t be happier to have started this project. Mamie is having an exceptional career based mostly in the theater and on television, with more and more potential projects coming her way. She’s managed to make herself a name and is avoiding the fast way to fame she could probably have by being a famous’ actors child. It all adds to the overall sympathy towards her as an actress – and the decision to chronicle her work through Mamie Gummer Online.
