“The Autumn Garden” premiere and interview

“The Autumn Garden”, the Lilian Hellman play in which Mamie stars as Sophie Tuckerman, will have its premiere tomorrow at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. NY1 News has had a report on the festival, including an interview with Mamie, which you can download in the video archive.

Here’s a transcript of the report: Also on hand this summer at Will-iamstown is actress Mamie Gummer who was recently seen performing opposite her mother Meryl Streep in the film “Evening.” From August 15th through the 26th she’s appearing in Lillian Hellman’s “The Autumn Garden.” The show marks Gummer’s Williamstown debut but she’s no stranger to the festival. “I grew up around here, and so I grew up coming to the theatre around here and it’s always been a dream,” says Gummer. “I remember I saw Gywneth Paltrow do “As You Like It” and just was so blown away by the whole thing and just this feeling of summer camp but also producing something extraordinary, hopefully.” For more information on the festival or the special bus trip on Saturday August 18th, you can log on to www.wtfestival.org.

“John Adams” trailer

Here comes the teaser trailer for the upcoming HBO epic mini-series “John Adams”. No scenes with Mamie are featured in the trailer but I’m sure there’s more to come. Click below to watch it!

Mamie and Claire on “The Early Show”

Mamie has made her first-ever talkshow appearance together with Claire Danes this morning on ‘The Early Show’. Click below for the caps, the complete video can be downloaded in the video archive.

Gummer, 23, plays young Lila Wittenborn, Ann’s best friend, who also loves Harris. On Lila’s wedding day, she grapples with her true feelings. But at the wedding, Ann meets him and is also smitten. Danes, 28, has worked with Gummer’s mother before. She played Streep’s daughter in “The Hours.” It was an experience that Danes said was bordering on the surreal. “Oh, it was a little out of body just because she’s so profoundly gifted and she’s legendary,” Danes said. “I’ve been very influenced by her work. And – but yeah, she’s fun. That’s the big secret about Meryl is that she’s actually a riot, a hoot and holler. So that was great.” Streep has also offered her daughter advice about acting. “Before this project, she just told me simply to do everything with great love,” Gummer said. “And I have tried to do so and to just be as honest as I can be.”

Articles and video interview

Added a bunch of very interesting interviews and articles on Mamie from the Boston Globe, Boston Now and the Los Angeles Times (with thanks to Caladonia for the heads-up). Also, there’s a new interview with Mamie and Claire Danes promoting “Evening” to be found on Youtube, caps are in the Image Library.
